I made this web app SVid. It revolutionizes how you search, see and share videos online. No downloads required. No Flash needed.

  • --Search
    • Simply enter the keywords and search videos across Youtube, Google Video, MSN, AOL and thousands of other sites.
    • Hover your mouse over videos to see details.
    • Not too fond of mice? Use keyboard controls instead.
    • Add SVid to your search box in just two clicks. (requires FF or IE6+).
  • -- See
    • Watch videos spiral in 3D elliptical orbits.
    • View the related videos in a fractal.
    • See the video in a cool player.
  • -- Share
    • Tag your favorite videos.
    • Drag and drop them to make your own albums (No need to login).
    • Publish videos in a beautiful carousel and share the link with your friends.
... and lots more.

"There are only two categories of people on the internet - those who use SVid and those who will."

What are you waiting for? Head over to http://cyb3r.in/svid .

My passport has finally lost its virginity

Today was THE day. Visa interview. After a long agonising wait of 3 hours, the interview lasted for 2 minutes. The questions I was asked :
  • What program?
  • Why University of Illinois?
  • Where did you do your bachelors?
  • Masters?
And thats it. I got my visa.

Final Semester

I have bought a new home : www.cyb3r.in :) . I have got a fiery template for it, but I need some time to set things up. So with a few clicks, I have set up blogger for my domain.

I had a nice time having Coffee with Sundar. Please do share your comments on it. Finally, I have accepted UIUC's offer for PhD.

Modern Aesop's Fable

It's a fine, sunny day in the forest, and a rabbit is sitting outside his burrow, tippy-tapping on his laptop. Along comes a fox, out on a walk.

Fox: "What are you working on?"
Rabbit: "My thesis."
Fox:"Hmm. What is it about?"
Rabbit:"Oh, I'm writing about how rabbits eat foxes." (incredulous pause)
Fox:"That's ridiculous! Any fool knows that rabbits don't eat foxes!"
Rabbit:"Come with me, and I'll show you!"

They both disappear into the rabbit's burrow. After a few minutes, gnawing on a fox bone, the rabbit returns to his laptop and resumes typing.

Soon a wolf comes along and stops to watch the hardworking rabbit.
Wolf:" What's that you are writing?"
Rabbit:" I'm doing a thesis on how rabbits eat wolves." (loud guffaws)
Wolf:" You don't expect to get such rubbish published, do you?"
Rabbit:" No problem. Do you want to see why?"

The rabbit and the wolf go into the burrow, and again the rabbit returns by himself, after a few minutes, and goes back to typing.

Finally a bear comes along and asks,
"What are you doing?"
Rabbit: "I'm doing a thesis on how rabbits eats bears."
Bear: "Well that's absurd!"
Rabbit: "Come into my home and I'll show you"

Inside the rabbit's burrow. In one corner, there is a pile of fox bones. In another corner, a pile of wolf bones. On the other side of the room a huge lion is belching and picking his teeth.

Moral of the story:
It doesn't matter what you choose for a thesis subject. It doesn't matter what you use for your data. What does matter is who you have for a thesis advisor.

To my love

I have been waiting for a long time to say this. Today seems to be a good day to express all the feelings I have for you. On the very first day of my college life, I introduced you to my father. He was very impressed, and I was mightily pleased. I was shattered when I came to know that we wont be able to meet during my first semester. I tried to circumvent the issue, by joining CRY class hoping to meet you, even if only for 2 hours a week. After the agonizing wait of 6 months, we broke all shackles in the second semester. We spent several sleepless nights together, exploring each other, playing games. Once I remember, we were caught in the act, and my ID card was seized. I had to beg the next day and write an apology letter to get my ID card back so that we could meet again.

You helped me with my assignments and entertained me. I spent more time with you than in my hostel room. I cannot imagine my college life without you. I have learned so much from you. You are my fortress of solitude. I made so many friends because of you. In my final year, you helped me mine information, even though I was (or rather planned to be) unfaithful to you. I hope that I have done my part for you, but I always have the guilty feeling that I could have done more.

I know when I leave this year, it will be very difficult to maintain a long distance relationship. But I know that you will always reply (within a second) whenever I ping you. I know your front doors will be out of my reach, but I will always have the back doors open. May you become even grander and more beautiful. I will always remember your words, "Dare to Dream".

Yours lovingly,
Cyber.

For all those who still don't get it, here is her photo.
